An interactive activity focused on assessing the current state of translation and interpretation in Kansas. Participants will increase their knowledge about the positive impact of community-based projects to standardize quality services of translation and interpretation. The content of this activity is applicable across educational, legal, and medical translation and interpreting.
Objectives:
Assess the health access disparities due to a lack of language resources in Kansas.
Recognize the power of community-based projects and the relevance of translating and interpreting for preserving the rights of minority groups.
Engage in group-conversations to simulate the steps to follow for the creation of an organization similar to Alce Su Voz.
