As language professionals, we must harness the power of standards. Today, it is vital to follow quality processes to ensure the best quality of our work and to keep client data confidential and safe. This session will provide an in-depth overview of ISO standards for Translation Services (ISO 17100), Interpreting Services (ISO 18841), Terminology (ISO 12616), Information Security Management (ISO 27001) and Human Post-Editing of Machine Translation Output (ISO 18587).
Adhering to international standards is a voluntary decision. However, these standards provide us with a strong quality template to work from that will help us refine our existing processes and quality procedures and will boost our clients’ satisfaction.
The speakers will bring these international standards to life by sharing experiences and case studies, and by identifying areas where standards have a major role to play, such as Machine Translation (MT). They will encourage attendees to embrace and shape technology, instead of fighting or ignoring it.
Participants will leave the session with a fully stocked toolkit designed to help them fine-tune daily tasks in a safe, organized way.
